While this may be news that is a few days old, I thought I would share this wonderful news anyways. The Oriental Institute has an electronic publications initiative in which they are taking many important resources and making them available at no cost in a PDF format. This is such an amazing service that OI is providing to academics with an interest in Ancient Near Eastern studies. Titles such as CAD (21 vols.) and CHD are now made available. The following quote describing this initiative is from the Ancient World Bloggers site:

“Starting in 2005, the Oriental Institute committed to digitizing all of its publications and making them available online, without charge. The minimum for each volume, old and new, current and forthcoming, will be a Portable Document Format (PDF) version following current resolution standards. New publications appear online at or near the time they appear in print. Older publications will be processed as time and funding permits. More than one hundred volumes are now online.”

Thanks to the folks at the Ancient World Bloggers (on their site you can also find other helpful ANE resources that are being made available, such as Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts Giza Project) site for providing this news!
